  • Mike opened meeting at 6:07 PM. Early hours for Rockler still in effect

  • Alexander O’Hara came to present on finishing

    • Showed a chair that he used a harsh stripper on – a non-commercial stripper (only professionals)

    • Very harsh, not good for skin – need to be aware of issues before you use any stripper

    • Difficult to determine the type of finish on a piece of furniture. Try one product, then if that doesn’t work you have to try another

    • Prep is always the challenge when stripping.

    • Doesn’t “dip” for stripping – hard to find companies that will do it

    • Priced $400 to strip the chair

    • Uses water based stripper, so it’s a lot less odor or issue with environment.

    • Could use pipe clamps to clamp 12ft together

    • Wood is 1-1/2” thick

    • General discussion on using dominos and other methods to clamp/glue/setup 12ft long countertop

  • Mike announced that he has to step away from the presidency and sell his woodworking tools and lumber
