Fairly light turnout. Approximately 18 members in attendance.
Treasurers report - 47 paid members, approximately $2796 in the treasury.
No new visitors.
Large quantity of items on the free table due to a tool donation from a former guild member. More items will be brought to future meetings.
Discussion for next month's election:
Nominees taken for all posts:
Salman for President
John Owen for Vice President
Brad for Treasurer
Mark Showers for member of the board as past president
Kevin Drevik and Rich for Program Committee leads
Steve Smith for Secretary
Since all post nominees were unchallenged and everyone was running unopposed, a motion was made for the Secretary to cast one vote for all members to be elected. This was received and approved. There will be no need for a formal election next month.
A limited number of questions for the Q&A were received, which was the original topic of the meeting, therefore additional demonstrations were added.
Demo #1 entailed hand saw sharpening techniques. Mark Showers led the forum. Several members joined in on the discussion and referenced several good sources of information.
Break
Demo #2 topic was "Turning" without a lathe (or if your lathe is too short for your project part). Rich led the discussion. He provided samples of a V block and plane lathe and explained their uses and techniques.
Show and Tell - A log cant was shown with a replacement handle made from an old table leg.
Future meeting discussion:
November meeting - 2 X 4 Challenge
December meeting will be the holiday dinner
Restaurant nominations were taken for the location.
Salman will send out the list and voting ballots to all members online.
Salman closed the meeting at about 8 PM.
